Weekend Garden Jobs
Spring has Sprung – this warm sunny weather will bring everything into bud but gardeners beware Sunny days turn into Frosty nights!! If the warmer weather tempts you into the garden then here are some jobs for you:-
Cut off any remaining flower heads from Hydrangea’s this will give the young buds more light and promote growth.
Cut back summer flowering Clematis.
Prune your buddleia – cut back last years growth right back to old wood.
Divide overgrown clumps of perennials.
Plant up some Gladioli for summer displays – if you stagger the planting the flowering period will last longer.
Repair and neaten lawn edges.
Get the lawnmower out to cut the grass but remember to keep the blades high for the first few cuts.
Lily and ranunculus bulbs can be planted now.
Sow some sweet peas – these seeds like long rooting pots/seed trays but if you don’t have any of these then use the inner tubes from toilet rolls which can be planted directly into the garden!
Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy the garden
