Weekend Garden Jobs
Well I said last week that the weather can surprise us during March and this week has not disappointment last weekend felt like the start of Spring with temperatures reaching 15C but today it has been a positively chilly 5C brrrrr so as we are all waiting for Spring to actually Spring here are some jobs to be getting on with.
Sow some sweet peas – these seeds like long rooting pots/seed trays but if you don’t have any of these then use the inner tubes from toilet rolls which can be planted directly into the garden!
Prune fully hardy summer flowering shrubs.
Plant up dahlia tubers.
Cut back ornamental grasses.
Deadhead pansies and primroses.
Turn your compost bin.
Cut the grass but remember to keep the blades high.
Divide and replant snowdrops.
Plant bare-root roses and finish pruning existing roses.
For summer colour pot up some lily bulbs.
Divide overgrown clumps of perennials.
Dig up perennial weeds.
Cut back your cornus (dogwoods).
Re-pot container plants.
