Jobs in the Veg Patch

Jobs in the Veg Patch

Finish winter pruning gooseberries, blackcurrants and autumn raspberries.

Dig a runner bean trench.

Trim and divide herbs.

Chit some new potatoes – mine are on the windowsill in the utility.

Due to the recent warmer weather check your forced rhubarb.

Sow tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse.

Radish can be sown outside thinly in drills approx 12mm deep and 25cm apart – you might want to wait until the soil dry’s out a little first – if the mud sticks to your boots then its too wet!

Harvest any remaining – Winter brassicas, swede, parsnips, leeks, and celeriac.

Plan this years crop and remember that you don’t need a dedicated veg garden as many things can be put into the herbaceous border or pots.

Enjoy your weekend.
