Jobs in the Veg Patch

If the weather allows here are some jobs for the vegetable garden:-

Remove runners from Strawberry plants this helps to put the plants energy into producing fruit!

Earth up first early potatoes.

Keep on top of weeding – if you have seedlings growing the best way to get between the rows is with a hoe.

Seeds to direct sow outside now include – Beetroot, peas, cabbage, carrots, french beans, lettuces, radish, runner beans.

Seeds to sow under cover include – Cucumber, Courgettes, Basil, Chives, Peppers, Chillies, pumpkins, squashes and Sweetcorn.

Put up supports for broad beans, climbing beans and peas.

Harvest – Rhubarb, asparagus, radish, purple sprouting.

If the weather is rubbish why not nip outside pick some Rhubarb and make some lovely Rhubarb Vodka or Rhubarb Compote !
