Weekend Veg Garden Jobs
Keep off water logged borders.
If the weather is awful and you can’t get outside then plan the year ahead.
If you can get onto your borders dig in well rotted compost or manure.
Buy your seed potatoes and “chit” them in egg boxes or trays.
Prune fruit trees, gooseberries and currants.
If the ground isn’t too frozen/water logged you can sow broad beans directly into the ground and you can plant garlic, rhubarb, shallots and Jerusalem artichokes.
Should you be lucky enough to own a greenhouse then you can also sow brussel sprouts, kohl rabi, leeks, lettuce, radishes and tomatoes.
Harvest – winter brassica’s such as kale, broccoli & cabbage other things to harvest include leeks, parsnips, celeriac and swede.
