Jobs in the Veg Patch

If you manage to avoid the wind and the rain here are some jobs to do in the veg garden.

Last chance to plant bare-root fruit trees and bushes.

Weed and rake seed beds.

Plant early potatoes, onion/shallot sets and Garlic.

Harvest forced rhubarb.

Sow some parsnips.

Plant some Jerusalem artichokes – these are very tall plants so ideal at the back of a border or use as a screen.

If you haven’t already done so this year turn your compost bin.

Seeds which can be sown directly outside now include parsnips, radish, peas, cabbage, leeks, lettuce and sprouting broccoli.

Divide perennial herbs such as mint and chives.

Trim sage and rosemary.

Don’t forget that as we leap into Spring this weekend you need to put your clocks forward!
Enjoy the weekend 🙂
